Free WoW is still WoW. The monthly fees aren't the only reason I choose not to play, in all honesty. I will continue to play GW until something better comes along. If that is Aion, Champions, or The Old Republic, then so be it. Otherwise, it will probably be Diablo 3 or possibly Blizzard's unannounced MMO, and then GW2.

WoW doesn't look to have the same group vs group style of combat in pve, so I fail to see the reasoning why I should even care about any of this.

61-70: All the quests start and end in the same zone so that isn't as bad but it's still the same boring XYZ formula as above. Some different looking enemies to kill in a new zone, hurray.

71-80: Oh good I got my flying mount at 70 and now I need 7 more levels before I get to use it in Northrend! Cold weather flying, yeah that makes a lot of sense. Nevermind the fact that I'm not paying the 1,000 gold for each of my flying mounts and my character can already take the flight paths. So what is the 1k gold for? Oh right, because Blizzard hates its playerbase with a passion. XYZ as before except lots and lots of snow.

Raids? Please. The difficult part is herding 25 people not the actually gameplay element. While one of the random 25 in the group takes a ninja AFK you have more than enough time to read up on the basic strategy for the boss ahead. For those who haven't played WoW there is this one boss who will cast one of two debuffs on the entire party. Depending on which you get you have to stand on one side of the boss or the other. Every 30 seconds or so the debuff may change so all you have to pay attention when that happens. Sounds easy right? Apparently not. I have yet to be in a group that does not wipe against that boss at least once because there are multiple idiots in the group who don't know their lefts from their rights. The idiocy that plagues the WoW playerbase is embarrassing.

Here is how you win PvE in WoW:

1. Heal tank.
2. Stay out of anything that appears on the floor.
3. Stay behind boss unless it's a dragon unless it's Malygos (the game likes to change the rules every now and then because Blizzard hates you)
4. Don't pull threat from tank.

I won't even talk about raid lockout periods and what that does to the community. Or enrage timers. Or banning players for depositing gold into their guild banks. Or the lag, the weekly crashes, the disconnects, loot system.

For $15 a month I expected a lot more, at the very least I expected to be able to play when I want to but no. I made the foolish mistake of making a Rogue, a melee class that can only DPS. The biggest challenge I face? Finding a freaking group. To anyone that is actually able to tolerate some of what I've mentioned never roll a class that can only damage, ever, especially not a melee, unless you have the intention of starting your own guild. Why? Because odds are if you're joining a guild they already have the maximum number of tolerable melee characters for certain raid bosses. Ranged classes are superior in every single way. Oh sure the melee might be able to pull off more damage but that slight amount is never necessary beat a boss, compared to the number of bosses where without ranged damage you're actually endangering the party's success.

Time to login to Guild Wars and do anything I want.
Sounds like Runes of Magic.

Also, you only need to get CWF once, not for each of your mounts. stfu ractoe.

If WoW becomes free in the next....6-12 months I'll probably be playing it until GW2 comes out.

Just think of all the kids coming onto this when they decide to leave runescape dead and buried. I'm sure everyone is gonna have a good time putting up with that.

That would be very easy to be put up, due to this simple fact: You can take comfort in that RuneScape would be dead and gone. Score one for humanity.

Who said they aren't?

Even if they are, they aren't going to publicly say "Oh, we're worried that Blizzard's new games are going to destroy Guild Wars 2".

I honestly think being free is GW's best selling point over other MMO's, its the USP. They will be in a bit of trouble but its all good for us, more selection and they will need to make GW2 better \o/.

But this is pretty irrelevant for me, putting the kind of time into a game now as i did with guild wars is (thankfully) impossible.

Blizzard is not going to change WoW to free-to-play. They make a huge profit now, why would they change things.

All he said is it's possible to do, not that anyone intended to do it.

As for PvP.... well, that is a toss up, but I would have to give it to GW at the end of the day, if only for the fact that is a completely even playing field.

However.... in the realm of PvE, WoW completely destroys Guild Wars. There isn't even a contest... Guild Wars has sad, pathetic, half assed PvE content.

And, as for PvE to PvP integration... WoW wins out easily there as well.

All in all, WoW is the superior game. With massive content updates, constant game balance, and a far more involved level of play, WoW is just something GW cannot hold water against.

That is not to say WoW doesn't have flaws... because it has many... but it is still an all around better title with a lot more content (we are talking 100s of times the amount of content)
Man, do I hate comparing anything to World of Warcraft, but I definitely feel the need to step in here, because frankly, I can't imagine we're playing the same game. Everything you're saying simply sounds like fanboy drivel, and it is absolutely baseless. What your argument is coming down to is, "WoW is better because...WoW is better." And you'll have to do better than that if you really want to get your hands in this.

If you really feel the need to choose, and prefer WoW over GW, then congratulations. Enjoy Warcraft, but please don't drop in here and spout this junk - or at the very least, make an intelligent argument for it.

Have you even read the discussion?
Why isnt he allowed to say WoW wins hands down when the discussion is about WoW.
Also im no fanboy either but id also say WoW wins hands down, only thing that makes me even mention GW in the same sentance in WoW is that GW is down to player skill as it isnt as much in WoW.
Please read some of the discussion before 'spouting junk'.
Also PS, stop being a GW fanboy >.O

My guildies moved onto WoW.
If it was to turn free - I'd follow them. WoW with those guys is better than GW without them.

I will play WoW if its free... I already own it anyway.

I'll still play GW (or GW2) of course... that's the benefit of free to play. You can play BOTH.

He is spouting junk because he is making a baseless argument by simply saying something is better because he thinks so. He cites nothing to back his assertion. I don't even state an opinion on either game in my post, so where exactly am I fanboying Guild Wars, ole' English? Nowhere, sweetheart. If you had taken the time to read and understand what I was saying you would realize my problem isn't with him enjoying one game over the other, it's with the lack of anything constructive in his post.
